Wayfinding for Schelokovsky
Schelokovsky Khutor is a forest park of considerable dimensions and a natural landmark located in the urban area of Nizhny Novgorod city. Its territory is popular with amateur athletes, families with children, beach lovers, aficionados of fishing, and picnic-goers. In 2017-2018, a project team called OGOROD launched activities focused on the improvement of the forest park and culture + nature concept was articulated to underlie the development of the area. The final project comprised wooden buildings and sites including information stands and directional sign boards (learn more).
So, the task was to implement a project of one of the first wayfinding system in the city (and, decidedly, the first one in a park), as well as to elaborate the visual identity of the site. The unenlightened post-soviet period of its history was to sink into oblivion, thus making a lane to a modern, robust and attractive park.
To establish close links between a man and a forest was another task set in the framework of the project, so a copywriter specialized in ecology was also taken on board. Together we made up several dozens of stands with various illustrations and infographics aimed to highlight local flora and fauna and a human’s place in it.
